Today's the day, the Moonless release blogfest!

I'm chuffed today to be a part of Crystal Collier's blogfest to celebrate the print release of her novel, Moonless ...

In the English society of 1768 where women are bred to marry, unattractive Alexia, just sixteen, believes she will end up alone. But on the county doorstep of a neighbor’s estate, she meets a man straight out of her nightmares, one whose blue eyes threaten to consume her whole world—especially when she discovers him standing over her murdered host in the middle of the night.

Her nightmares become reality: a dead baron, red-eyed wraiths, and forbidden love with a man hunted by these creatures. After an attack close to home, Alexia realizes she cannot keep one foot in her old life and one in this new world. To protect her family she must either be sold into a loveless marriage, or escape with her beloved and risk becoming one of the Soulless.

This one really sounds exciting and I'm looking forward to getting stuck in with it.

To celebrate the occasion (and why not?), Crystal has one question she'd love to know the answer to ...

If you lived in a society where arranged marriages were a la mode, whom would you beg your parents to set you up with? Why? (Literary characters and celebrities welcomed.)

I love this question and it's really taken some thought, but in the end I've gone for ...

www.bbc.co.uk

The Tenth Doctor!

He'd just be the best guy to be married to, we'd be able to go off on adventures through time and space and all that. Plus, you know, it's David Tennant ... Need I say more?

And, as an extra celebration of this release, some of Crystal's author friends have rallied together to offer their novels for a huge Valentine's Giveaway! I love this writing community!

Here are the details for your chance to enter and win one of these great prizes!

the Rafflecopter giveaway here!

And if that wasn't enough, you can treat yourself here to a $2.00 coupon courtesy of Crystal's publisher as a thank you for being so awesome! Check out the details here:

Coupon code: LQJM3F84

So, are you excited for the printed release of Moonless?

Who would you want to be set up with?

Have you entered the giveaway?

More Than Just a Kiss Blogfest

This week I am taking part in the More Than Just a Kiss blogfest. It is being run by the wonderful Christine Rains and her partner in crime Cecilia Robert.

“A kiss, when all is said, what is it? 'Tis a secret told to the mouth instead of to the ear.” ~ Edmond Rostand
From 9th -15th September you are invited to post one of your very own kissing scenes. Be it saucy, sexy, racy or sensual, we want to see what you can come up with.

And there are prizes on offer too! Each scene will be judged by some brilliant romance writers and their favourites can win a critique of their work, as well as a chance to win some awesome books from the judges themselves.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The rules are simple:
1. Sign up on the linky list and post the badge on your blog.
2. On one of the days of the week of September 9th, post a kissing scene on your blog. It can be either fiction or non-fiction.
3. Please do not exceed 250 words.
4. This is a blogfest, so visit the other participants and have fun!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It's not too late to enter if you fancy joining in, just head on over to the hosts to sign up.
My contribution to the festivities is potentially part of a larger story that I've had mulling around in my head for a little while now. I'm still trying to decide what genre I'm going to focus on but these two characters are screaming in my head to be let out.
Please let me know what you think:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The breeze rustled the leaves, but I didn't feel the cold. With one arm around me, Chris kept me warm enough. Turned towards me, holding my hand I couldn't help but face him too, just inches away from him as he looked into my eyes.
'I need to apologise for last night.' His voice was just above a whisper.
'Apologise for what?'
'When you asked me inside for coffee, you don't know how much I wanted to.'
'I wasn't sure … '
'I just couldn't trust myself to be with you.'
His closeness made my skin tingle. 'I thought you'd changed your mind about me.'
'Not at all,' he insisted, shifting closer still. 'I know it's only been a couple of days, but you've filled my mind. I've never known anything like this.'
'Really? I thought maybe it was just me.'
'It's killing me that you'll be gone in two days, it's not enough time.'
The reminder made my heart sink. 'Maybe it's better … ' I couldn't force the words out, looking into the trees for inspiration.
His hand brought my gaze back towards his. I knew what was coming and every pore of my skin was ready to burst in anticipation.
His lips met mine and my tingle went all the way down to my toes. Closing my eyes, I couldn't hold myself back, returning his advance with every part of me. As he wrapped me in his arms I knew this couldn't be for just a couple of days.
Novels Films II Blogfest - Part I
This 'fest comes from Madeleine Sara at Scribble and Edit to celebrate the 3rd anniversary of her blog and is a three day celebration, 2nd-4th September.
If you want to join in then it's not too late, and you can do one, two or all three days, it's entirely up to you! Just head over to Madeleine's blog to get signed up.
Today's focus is:
Are there any novels you have seen as films/TV adaptations in which the novel left you cold?
or
Is there a film that surprised you and prompted you to read the novel?
One film that prompted me to go out and read the books was The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring.
I tried so many times to read the books when I was in high school, but The Hobbit was the only one I managed to get through and enjoy. I don't know why I couldn't get to grips with them way back then, goodness knows I really wanted to but I just didn't have the time to get into them properly.
When The Fellowship came out I really loved it, of course, and that gave me the impetus to finally get on with reading the book. I managed to read all three of the books before The Two Towers came out, which I usually prefer to do, book before film.
For me, the enjoyment of the film enhanced the books so that I could finally enjoy them too.
Have you seen any films that have made you want to read the book?
I've had my first stab at something for this 'fest already but it came in at just over 400 words. This is going to be tricker than I first thought. It'll certainly be fun though, and a challenge to keep the word count tight.
If you want to have a go head over to one of the hosts to find out all the details in full, and don't forget to sign up and check out who else is there too!
